Portola Pharmaceuticals (PTLA) is a biopharmaceutical company that focuses on discovering and marketing therapies for thrombosis and other hematologic diseases. The company's three developmental products include Betrixaban, Andexanet alfa, and Cerdulatinib.Andexanet alfa is in Phase 3 trials and is partnered with Pfizer (PFE), Bayer (BAYN), Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMY), Johnson and Johnson (JNJ), and Daiichi-Sankyo. Portola is also partnered with Biogen for a syk-selective inhibitor inflammatory drug.Today, Portola announced that its Phase 3 ANNEXA-R study of Andexanet alfa and Xarelto met primary endpoints. The company will present these results at the American College of Cardiology meeting on March 16 at 2:30 P.M. EST.On January 6, the company announced that they will also be holding a corporate presentation. The presentation is scheduled for January 12 at 3 P.M. EST. This coincides with the J.P. Morgan Healthcare conference.Portola has several additional data point readouts in 2015.In early 2015 Portola will announce a futility analysis for a Phase 3 trial for Betrixaban. Topline data is expected to be reported in the middle of 2015.For Andexanet alfa, Portola will also announce Phase II data (Savaysa reversal), Part 2 of ANNEXA-A Phase 3 with Elliquis, and Part 2 of ANNEXA-R Phase 3 with Xarelto. For all of these studies the FDA has agreed to an accelerated approval pathway.On November 17, Portola, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Pfizer announced positive results from Part I of the Phase 3 ANNEXA-A trial with Eliquis.At the upcoming conference, expect an update on these clinical trials.
