With the TV industry witnessing a dramatic shift towards higher resolution, Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ: BRCM) is preparing itself for the future.

Broadcom CEO Scott McGregor was interviewed by Bloomberg at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on the latest innovations by the company.

How Is Broadcom Adapting To The Changes In The TV Landscape?

"What’s exciting to me about the show is that we are really seeing 4K content go mainstream," McGregor said. "The TV prices are down and there is content available now and so things like set-top boxes, in other ways to get that content to homes is important. So, Broadcom is in most of the set-top boxes out there and we power this new 4K devices."

He also explained what 4K is, saying, "So 4K ultra HD, so, four times the screen resolution you are used to with HD. So really, really good visual quality, startlingly good visual quality. So, getting that content in the house is important, so we are creating set-top boxes that are smaller."

Will People Upgrade To 4K?

"I think people are going to get excited about these. The cable companies and the various carriers have this content to offer. I think people would be interested in getting subscriptions to that and seeing it. It’ll also be streamed across the Internet, so there are other ways to get it as well, which you can do that with devices you have today. So, it's coming, it's now mainstream," McGregor added.
