Sony Corp (ADR) (NYSE: SNE) reported that “The Interview” brought in more than $1 million in ticket sales on Christmas Day.

“Considering the incredibly challenging circumstances, we are extremely grateful to the people all over the country who came out to experience ‘The Interview’ on the first day of its unconventional release,” Rory Bruer, president worldwide distribution for Sony Pictures, said in an e-mail reported by Bloomberg.

The launch of the film follows positive comments from Jefferies on Sony’s restructuring efforts.

Sony Corp (ADR) recently traded at $21.24, down 0.38 percent.
