BroadSoft (NASDAQ: BSFT) reported upbeat earnings for the third quarter.The Gaithersburg, Maryland-based reported a quarterly loss of $2.3 million, or $0.08 per share, versus a year-ago net loss of $4.1 million, or $0.14 per shares. Excluding items, the company earned $0.34 per share, up from $0.28 per share.Its revenue climbed 27% to $54.6 million in the period. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.26 per share on revenue of $50.89 million."We are delighted with our third quarter results. Primarily driven by our UC-One hosted unified communications businesses, we saw strength in a number of our key metrics including revenue, billings, earnings, and cash flow," said Jim Tholen, chief financial officer, BroadSoft.For the current quarter, the company projects earnings of $0.48 to $0.64 per share on revenue of $60 million to $65 million.For the full year, BroadSoft projects earnings of $1.19 to $1.35 per share on revenue of $211 million to $216 million.BroadSoft shares closed at $22.01 yesterday.
