Global Eagle Entertainment Inc. (Nasdaq: ENT), a worldwide leading provider of content, connectivity and digital media solutions to airlines, today announced that it has acquired the content assets of South Indian distributor Purple Entertainment for distribution to the airline in-flight entertainment market.Purple Entertainment has an exclusive agreement with SUN TV, the largest media company in India for South Indian content, to license movie and TV programming to airlines. The company also has extensive and long-standing relationships with some of the most important studios in Southern India."This exciting acquisition was made through our Mumbai-based distributor Fairdeal," explained Amir Samnani, Senior Vice President of Content Services at Global Eagle Entertainment (GEE). "Indian content is very popular on both local and international flights and this new addition to our content business will allow GEE to provide a wider variety of Indian movies and TV programming to our airline customers."
