1. Fire TV

Amazon's Fire TV typically retails for $99, but the company has temporarily reduced the price by $15.

The deal comes after Amazon announced that it had doubled the amount of apps that are supported by Fire TV.

Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdhry was not at all surprised by the sale. He said that Amazon could afford to give the devices away for free because the online retailer makes money selling content, including books, games and movies.

"Fire TV, Fire Phone…could be free because this is the hook for Amazon to increase the rate of e-commerce," Chowdhry told Benzinga.

Chowdhry added that Amazon's motive has nothing to do with selling devices -- it's all about content.

Note: This deal ends on August 15.

2. Fire TV and Kindle Fire HDX 7" 16GB Bundle

Amazon is currently selling a bundle that includes the seven-inch Kindle Fire HDX, as well as the Fire TV.

The $279 deal is actually higher than a previous sale noted in one customer review. Nonetheless it's still a $49 savings over the combined MSRP of both items.

3. Alienware Laptop

Powerful gaming laptops can also double as spectacular workstations for Photoshop, video editing, graphic design, and other power-hungry programs.

Alienware's 14-inch gaming laptop (a Core i5 machine with 8GB RAM, a 750GB hard drive and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) carries an MSRP of $1,099. Currently, Amazon is selling this machine for $899.

4. Samsung TVs

Samsung TVs are some of the most popular in the world. They are also some of the most affordable sets available. Thanks to Amazon, they are now a little cheaper.

Several models -- including a few Ultra HD sets -- have been discounted by as much as $1,000.

5. Bowers & Wilkins Z2 Wireless Music System

It's difficult to gauge the quality of this sound system. The user reviews are encouraging (the Bowers & Wilkins Z2 Wireless Music System has nearly reached a four-star rating), but the brand name may be worrying to some consumers. After all, this product wasn't made by Bose or Beats.

That said, the 50 percent savings could be very hard to resist.
