Cal-Maine Foods (NASDAQ: CALM) reported a rise in its fiscal third-quarter profit. Cal-Maine's quarterly earnings gained to $42.6 million, or $1.77 per share, versus a year-ago profit of $30.6 million or, $1.27 per share. Its sales climbed 9.8% to $395.5 million, while specialty-egg sales climbed 9% in the period. Its gross margin rose to 23.2% versus 18.6%. Cal-Maine shares closed at $57.51 on Friday.
