Citigroup (NYSE: C) reported a strong rise in its fourth-quarter profit. Citigroup's quarterly profit surged to $2.69 billion, or $0.85 per share, versus a year-ago profit of $1.2 billion, or $0.38 per share. Excluding one-time items, it earned $0.82 per share.Its revenue declined 0.8% to $17.78 billion. However, analysts were projecting earnings of $0.95 per share on revenue of $18.18 billion. Citigroup shares fell 3.24% to $53.21 in pre-market trading.
