AutoZone (NYSE: AZO) reported a 7.2% rise in its fiscal first-quarter earnings.AutoZone's quarterly profit surged to $218.1 million, or $6.29 per share, from a year-ago profit of $203.5 million, or $5.41 per share. Its revenue rose 5.1% to $2.09 billion. However, analysts were projecting earnings of $6.28 per share on revenue of $2.1 billion. AutoZone's gross margin widened to 51.9% from 51.8%, while domestic same-store sales increased 0.9%.AutoZone shares closed at $457.34 yesterday.
