GE Healthcare, the healthcare division of General Electric (NYSE: GE),announced today the acquisition of Unisyn Medical Technologies' TransactionalBusiness, a leading national provider of comprehensive ultrasound probe repairsolutions to biomedical and clinical engineers, headquartered in Golden, CO.Financial terms were not disclosed.The proprietary products and services from Unisyn will be integrated into GEHealthcare's Global Services organization and be offered initially tocustomers in the United States and Canada. Global expansion is expected tostart by the end of the year. Unisyn's Diagnostic Imaging Field Servicesbusiness will operate independently under a new name.“The combination of Unisyn's repair expertise and GE's scale will providevalue by meeting customers' needs with a fast, cost effective and reliableprobe repair solution,” said Mike Swinford, President and CEO of GlobalServices for GE Healthcare. “We see this as a tremendous opportunity tofurther grow our Ultrasound and Services footprint globally and look forwardto providing our customers a cost effective solution at every step of theUltrasound product lifecycle.”Ultrasound customers around the world are challenged as they struggle tomanage their broad ultrasound fleet of probes. They seek low cost, highquality solutions that can increase their uptime and reduce repeated failures.Unisyn is uniquely positioned to test and evaluate ultrasound probe failureswith its proprietary FirstCall™ probe-testing device. This patented technologyenables Unisyn to diagnose, repair, and thoroughly test each and every probebefore shipment back to the customer.
