(NYSE: BBY) will help kick off the holiday weekend for all prospective iPhone users by cutting prices by $50 for the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 (in conjunction with a two-year contract with Verizon, AT&T or Sprint) starting this sunday. The price-cuts for Apple's (NASDAQ: AAPL) mobile phones will be a four-week promotion. The promotion's start coincides with Samsung's new Galaxy S4, a direct competitor in the mobile phone market, now being available for numerous carriers. Additionally, Best Buy is offering several other shorter-term (May 26 to June 1) promotions on popular, but more dated, Android devices: Samsung's Galaxy S III will be available for $49 on AT&T or Sprint, equating to a $50 price cut and is offering the HTC Droid DNA for Verizon for $49 ($150 savings) and the HTC One X on AT&T for free (a $100 price cut). Discounts for the iPhone are typically infrequent, most frequently overlapping with the months and weeks leading up to the release of a newer model.Best Buy closed at Thursday at $26.29.
