The Institute of Finance and Management (IOFM) today announced the launch of its Certified Professional Controller (CPC) Program™, the only controller certification program in the United States. Already, several candidates representing a number of prestigious U.S.-based corporations have enrolled. All who participate in the IOFM's new program gain immediate access to a comprehensive IOFM-approved and -developed study guide and access to the related eLearning Portal.
“There's never been a certification program recognizing the controller function,” said RD Whitney, chief executive officer of the IOFM. “The IOFM has received many requests for a controller certification program and, so, drawing on our deep internal brain trust, we have developed the first and only controller certification program in the country.”
The IOFM's certification program focuses on building the core business and operational knowledge required for corporate controllers and controllers of business units, manufacturing plants or regional locations. IOFM-provided CPC designation affords finance and accounting professionals significant career advantages.
The credibility of the IOFM's CPC Program rests comfortably on the credentials of Executive Director Chris Doxey, CAPP, CCSA, CICA, who has held senior finance, internal controls, and controller positions at large corporations, including Digital Equipment Corporation, Compaq Computer Corporation and Hewlett Packard. Complementing her leadership are the decades of experience of other IOFM staff involved in the effort.
Controllers face myriad external and internal considerations: an ever-evolving compliance and regulatory landscape; ongoing change within their companies due, for instance, to mergers and acquisitions; implementation of new systems and processes; the outsourcing of a business process; or the move to shared service centers. With these considerations come risks, challenges, and internal control requirements. The CPC designation from IOFM means the certification recipient has met all pre-requisites and successfully passed the IOFM's exam—powerful proving points that these professionals are ready to handle the job:
