Fashion Delivers Charitable Foundation, Inc. has secured and distributed over $20 million worth of new products to help people affected by Hurricane Sandy during the last three-months. A new timeline of support activity has just been published online (https://www.fashiondelivers.org/sandyrelief.php) and includes a video of how the donated new product has helped restore hope and dignity to those affected.

Fashion Delivers surveyed the agencies distributing the initial donations about their changing needs going forward. The items most in demand in the near future are bed linens, pillows and spring and summer clothes for the upcoming change of seasons. Many people are living temporarily in other homes while their own are gutted and renovated or rebuilt; they will need everything from kitchen items, linens and towels to rugs and curtains.

“We have seen a wonderful response from the apparel and home goods industries following the terrible devastation of Hurricane Sandy,” said Fashion Delivers Chairman Allan Ellinger. “Sandy victims have told us how much this help has changed their lives, and we are calling on manufacturers and retailers to continue the effort. Consumers can play an important role too by donating money that will support the ongoing distribution of new merchandise.”

Foundations have also stepped up to help Fashion Delivers' efforts. The Polo Ralph Lauren Foundation provided a cash grant of $25,000 to help fund the work, and the Ralph Lauren Corporation has also donated nearly $1.3 million worth of new apparel. Additionally, the Lifemax Foundation provided $10,000 to purchase highly-needed product items not otherwise donated, such as bed pillows and blankets. The Robin Hood Foundation gave $25,000 to support the distribution of donated merchandise specifically to New Jersey shore communities.

Manufacturers and retailers with new, excess product can donate online at https://www.fashiondelivers.org/donation-form.php or call at 646-786-2680. Consumers can also go online to support Fashion Delivers relief for families affected by Hurricane Sandy; every $1 of cash donated through https://www.fashiondelivers.org/money-form.php helps move $25 of new donated product.
