Gilead Sciences (NASDAQ: GILD) reported a 15% rise in its fourth-quarter earnings.Gilead's quarterly profit surged to $762.5 million, or $0.47 per share, from $665.1 million, or $0.43 per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding one-time items, its adjusted earnings came in at $0.50 per share. Its revenue climbed 18% to $2.59 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.48 per share on revenue of $2.43 billion. Its operating margin climbed to 42.8% from 39.4%Gilead shares gained 0.76% to $39.89 in after-hours trading.
