National ADU company announces new ready-to-ship models and Express Permit Plan Sets to help customers navigate local permitting regulations and reduce costs.

LOUISVILLE, Colo. , May 11, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- As the demand for Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) continues to rise and zoning regulations for the popular housing solution lift in neighborhoods across the country, Studio Shed, the prefabricated modular home industry leader since 2008, today announced the debut of a new collection of four curated ADU designs in an effort to streamline and ease the permitting and building process for its customers.

The new product offerings feature sizes ranging from a studio to one- and two-bedroom units, complete with interior layouts, finishes and Express Permit Plan Sets. They arrive on the heels of the company's 15th anniversary, a recent headquarters expansion, and tripled production capacity at its manufacturing facility in Colorado.

"This is an exciting milestone for Studio Shed," said Jeremy Nova, the company's cofounder and creative director. "For 15 years, our team of prefab experts have worked closely with our customers to design the ADUs of their dreams. It's a natural evolution for us to now offer a select few turnkey, ready-to-ship designs of our most sought-after floor plans featuring the high-quality standards we've built our company around."

Priced 15% below custom ADU designs, Studio Shed's new in-stock models include pre-engineered Express Plan Sets delivered to customers in as little as two weeks to help them navigate local permitting regulations and reduce costs.

"The pre-engineered plan sets are a game changer for our customers," said Nova. "Municipalities are increasingly open-minded about ADUs, but it's still not easy to build to code, and permitting regulations are changing every day. Our new in-stock models meet code around the country, so our customers have one less step to worry about."

Studio Shed's new designs include:

  • The Summit 364: A 364-square foot 14X26 ADU featuring a flexible 244-square-foot open concept design, small kitchen layout with undercounter fridge, and a three-piece medium bathroom;
  • The Summit 476: A larger 476-square-foot 14X34 ADU featuring a 122-square-foot bedroom with a reach-in closet, a three-piece medium bathroom, and a one-wall-style medium kitchen;
  • The Summit 684: A 684-square-foot 18X38 ADU featuring a 172-square-foot bedroom with a spacious walk-in closet, a three-piece medium bathroom, and a one-wall-style medium kitchen; and,
  • The Summit 1,000: A 1,000-square-foot 20X50 ADU featuring two bedrooms and two bathrooms, including a 150-square foot primary bedroom with a walk-in closet and private three-piece medium bathroom, a 135-square foot bedroom with a reach-in closet, a one-wall-style medium kitchen, and a second three-piece medium bathroom.

Each design includes Lifestyle+ interior packages, utility closets, French doors, Marvin windows, and green materials including FSC-certified lumber and mixed-source recycled metal and materials. Customers choose from a variety of LVT flooring options and interior and exterior paint and siding colors. Spray-foam insulation, drywall, and interior partition wall materials are included with Studio Shed's ProAssembly package while foundation and site work, utilities, and permit are separate.

Once a customer chooses a curated ADU design on Studio Shed's website, the pre-engineered plan set is delivered within two to four weeks. The customer manages the permitting process, and Studio Shed ships the final product flat-packaged as a kit once permitted. Assembly times typically take between four to five weeks.

"The hyperlocal nature of ADU permitting is often a deterrent to interested homeowners or investors," said Nova. "We are saving them the time and energy to navigate the regulatory maze."
