CHICAGO, Oct. 26, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Pathways.org, a nonprofit foundation advocating early detection and therapy for children with developmental delays, will host its annual fundraising dinner to raise funds and awareness for children all over the world. This year, Pathways.org is hosting its dinner fundraiser in Chicago on November 12, 2012. With a goal of surpassing last year's donations, Pathways.org looks to raise more than 1 million dollars.

Last year's dinner and donations helped create the Pathways.org "Course to Go" series. The first in the series, the "2, 4, 6 Month Motor," stems from a course created in conjunction with the American Academy of Pediatrics and is now complete and available for free to health professionals. With donations from this year's dinner, Pathways.org will create the next course in the series and distribute them worldwide for free.

"The work that Pathways.org is doing is truly unique and truly groundbreaking," said Dr. John Sarwark, Head of Orthopedic Surgery Martha Washington Foundation for Children and co-chair of the Pathways.org Medical Round Table. "There is no other organization across the country doing as much as Pathways Foundation is to address this issue of early delays and to validate the power of early detection and early intervention services for children."

Pathways.org believes each child deserves to reach their fullest potential which is why all the materials the organization produces are available for free to download, copy, and share. All resources are supported and approved by the Pathways.org Medical Round Table of highly esteemed physicians, nurse practitioners, therapists and parents.

Using multimedia in multiple languages, Pathways.org reaches across the world to provide free resources to parents and health professionals to the benefit of the 600,000 babies born at risk for early motor, sensory integration and communication delays.

Those who are not able to attend the dinner are encouraged to make contributions in other ways. Pathways.org accepts donations on its website at www.pathways.org/donate and welcomes volunteers at http://pathways.org/pathways-center/support/volunteer/.
