- A group of Activision Blizzard, Inc (NASDAQ:ATVI) video-game employees in Boston organized a union with the Communications Workers of America.
- The 57-person Proletariat unit filed for a union representation, including designers, animators, engineers, producers, and quality assurance workers, Bloomberg reports.
- It could mark the first gaming union at Activision comprising workers outside of quality assurance who tested video games for bugs and performance and were widely considered underpaid across the industry.
- In December, Blizzard Albany's game testers voted to form a union months after it began negotiating with employees at its Wisconsin unit, the first in the company to unionize.
- About two dozen Activision unit Raven Software employees voted to unionize in May. Activision recognized the union and began negotiations in June.
- The NLRB accused Activision of violating federal labor law by threatening retaliation against workers who use social media to discuss working conditions.
