Heinz Co (NYSE: HNZ) reported a rise in its first-quarter profit.Heinz's quarterly net income surged to $258 million, or $0.80 per share, from $226.1 million, or $0.70 per share, in the year-ago period.Its profit from continuing operations came in at $0.87 per share, while sales fell 1.5% to $2.79 billion.Heinz shares gained 1.64% to $58.35 in after-hours trading.
