Earnings Preview: Will PetSmart Surprise Analysts Again?

PetSmart (NASDAQ: PETM), a pet related goods and services provider, is scheduled to report Q1 2012 earnings after today's market close. At 4:30pm, PetSmart is expected to broadcast its conference call on its website. The company has released earnings that beat consensus analyst expectations for each of the previous five quarters.

For this quarter, the consensus analyst estimates are close to $0.73 for PetSmart's EPS and $1.6 billion for its revenue. The consensus analyst estimate for this quarter's EPS has risen by $0.03 since 90 days ago. At the analyst consensus of $0.73, this quarter's EPS would represent growth of almost 20% from actual EPS in the same quarter last year. For the quarter ending this July, analysts expect earnings per share close to $0.65 and revenue near $1.6 billion.
