Marsh & McLennan Co Inc (NYSE: MMC) posted a stronger-than-expected first-quarter profit.Marsh & McLennan's quarterly net income surged to $347 million, or $0.64 per share, versus $325 million, or $0.57 per share, in the year-ago period. On an adjusted basis, Marsh & McLennan earned $0.63 per share.Its revenue rose 6% to $3.05 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.61 per share on revenue of $3.04 billion.Marsh & McLennan shares closed at $33.45 yesterday.
