Fuel Tech, Inc. (NASDAQ: FTEK) today announced receipt of multiple air pollution control orders totaling $2.2 million. The larger of these orders, placed by a new domestic utility customer in the Midwest, was for combustion modifications and a Separated Over-Fire Air system for a small tangential coal-fired boiler. Fuel Tech's SOFA system utilizes a high energy nozzle design that controls airflow from the secondary air ducts to evenly distribute flow through ports above the top elevation of burners. The system includes burner modifications and equipment to fire 100 percent natural gas, in addition to improving combustion performance and NOx emissions when firing coal. Equipment deliveries are currently scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2012.
