Sanderson Farms Inc (NASDAQ: SAFM) reported a narrower fiscal first-quarter loss. Sanderson Farms posted a quarterly loss of $8 million, or $0.36 per share, versus a year-ago loss of $33.6 million, or $1.52 per share. Its sales rose to $517.8 million from $427.7 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.26 per share on revenue of $508.9 million.Sanderson Farms shares closed at $49.47 yesterday.
