It also has a Magnesia Specialties business that manufactures and markets magnesia-based chemical products used in industrial, agricultural, and environmental applications, and dolomitic lime sold to customers in the steel industry. The principal raw materials used in the Specialty Products business are dolomitic limestone and alkali-rich brine. The Company's Magnesia Specialties business competes with various companies in different geographic and product areas on the basis of quality, price, technological advances, and technical support for its products. The Company's Cement business competes with companies in different geographic and product areas on the basis of proximity, quality and price for its products, but level of customer service is also a factor. The Company's Specialty Products business competes with various companies in different geographic and product areas on the basis of quality, price, technological advances, and technical support for its products. The Company's operations are subject to and affected by federal, state, and local laws and regulations relating to the environment, health and safety, and other regulatory matters.
