SAIC Wins $184M Contract by National Institutes of Health

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) SAI announced it was awarded a prime contract by the National Institutes of Health's (NIH) National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) to provide information technology (IT) support services to the NHLBI's Information Technology and Applications Center (ITAC).  The multiple-award blanket procurement agreement (BPA) has a five-year base period of performance and a total contract value of $184 million for all awardees.  Work will be performed primarily in Bethesda, Md. and the Washington-Metropolitan area. ITAC directs and implements a broad range of business, research, and clinical informatics programs in support of the biomedical research mission of the NHLBI and articulates the NHLBI IT strategic plan, forecasts future needs, and sets and implements NHLBI IT policies and procedures.  Under the contract SAIC will provide IT support services that are central to management of NHLBI's research mission.  As a part of the BPA, SAIC competed for and won three task orders valued at $18 million to assist the NHLBI by implementing new software and technology, enabling business process improvements and automation, maintaining web sites and databases, and modernizing its grants management program. SAIC is one of five contractors eligible to compete for task orders under the contract.
