By 10:40 am, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 46.60 points, or 0.35%, to 13,410.95, while the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index had dropped 10.64 points, or 0.74%. The NASDAQ composite index fell 35.90 points, or 1.15%.
