Apple Paid $75,000 to Get an Expert to Say Samsung is Guilty

Apple AAPL has hired an expert witness to back up its claims against Samsung in the never-ending legal battle surrounding the firms' patents and design concepts. According to TechCrunch, Peter Bressler (a man who makes his living as an expert witness) was paid $75,000 by Apple to testify. His salary is just the beginning; he is expected to get even more by the time this four-week trial concludes. Bressler's earnings are small potatoes compared to the billions Apple is eyeing in this trial. Apple stands to gain -- or lose, depending on the outcome -- a colossal amount of money. Samsung is sure to have its own well-paid "expert" witness who will take the stand to refute Apple's claims. The expert's testimony may not be as potent, however, now that US District Court Judge Lucy Koh prevented Samsung from revealing Apple's greatest secrets. Follow me @LouisBedigianBZ
