Rumors suggest that Microsoft (NASDAQ:
MSFT) will ship its long-awaited operating system
three months early.
With an anticipated release date of October 2012, Microsoft was not expected to release Windows 8 this summer. But Apple (NASDAQ:
AAPL)
will release OS X Mountain Lion in July, providing the Mac maker with the perfect opportunity to steal Microsoft's thunder.
According to
PCWorld, that has not changed. Windows 8 might be delivered to manufacturers in July, but it will not actually be released to the public until October.
