Kindle Fire Pre-Orders Surpass 250K, Guaranteeing a Successful Launch

Amazon is selling 2,000 tablets per hour, leaked documents reveal.

That's according to Cult of Android, which claims to have spoken to a “verified source within the Seattle-based online retail giant. The source provided Cult of Android with “exclusive screenshots of Amazon's internal inventory management system.”

Those screenshots reveal pre-order numbers to be at more than 50,000 per day. More than 250,000 Kindle Fire tablets have been pre-ordered since Amazon's big announcement.

If these numbers are accurate, and if Amazon can hold this momentum through the device's launch, the Kindle Fire could go on to become the second-fastest-selling tablet ever created. But while Cult of Android speculates that Amazon could beat Apple's (NASDAQ: AAPL) record – the iPad 2 sold 2.5 million units in 30 days – it is highly unlikely that Amazon will sell that many that quickly.
