American Eagle Outfitters (NYSE: AEO) shares are sharply higher today on no real news, and heavy volume.

Some are speculating that the teen retailer could potentially be in play for a takeover, either via private equity or a leveraged buyout offer.

At last check, shares of American Eagle were up $1.24 to $15.93, a gain of 8.44%. The volume is more than twice its average daily volume, trading 11 million shares today.
