Silver futures kicked off the new year with a bang on Tuesday, rising 5.59% to $29.47. The move has been even more dramatic in the iShares Silver Trust ETF (NYSE:
SLV) which has surged 6.50% to $28.70.
Volume is running heavier than normal with more than 21 million SLV shares already trading hands compared to a 3-month daily average of 20.7 million.
