Research In Motion Reports Huge Third Quarter Earnings

Smartphone giant Research in Motion Ltd. (NASDAQ:RIMM) released a report Thursday stating that its earnings for the third quarter skyrocketed by 59%, carried by the continued success of the company's BlackBerry brand.
Net income was reported as $1.10 a share versus 69 cents a share from a year ago, exceeding analyst estimates of $1.04 per share. Total revenue also increased 41% to $3.92 billion for the quarter.
RIMM is up 10% in after-hours trading.
