Greg Garrabrants is President and CEO of Axos Bank, a federally chartered savings institution with over $14.4 billion in assets. Under Greg’s leadership, Axos Bank has consistently ranked as one of the highest performing banking institutions in the country – with S&P Global Market Intelligence naming Axos one of the nation’s top five public thrifts for 11 years in a row.
Prior to joining Axos Bank as President and CEO in 2007, Greg was a senior vice president and the head of corporate business development at the nation’s seventh largest thrift, focusing on entry into new business segments, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic alliances.
Before his senior executive roles at banking institutions, Greg served the financial services industry as an investment banker, management consultant, and attorney for over 15 years. He was an investment banker at Goldman Sachs, specializing in advising management and directors on issues such as strategic planning, capital and liquidity management, balance sheet management, asset and liability management, and enhancement of shareholder value.
Prior to Goldman Sachs, Greg served as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. At McKinsey, Greg led teams that worked with senior management of money center banks, non-bank financial services companies, insurance companies and asset managers on strategy development, sales force effectiveness, risk management, organizational design, and corporate restructuring.
Before his career at McKinsey, Greg was a summer associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, Munger, Tolles & Olson, and Morrison & Foerster, focusing on corporate and securities law. He also clerked for the Honorable Steven V. Wilson of the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Prior to graduate school, he began his career at Deloitte Consulting in the financial advisory services and litigation support practices.
Greg earned his Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, from the Northwestern University School of Law and his Masters of Business Administration, with the highest distinctions, from Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering and a minor in Economics from the University of Southern California where he graduated with high honors. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and member of the California Bar.
