How Have The Hewlett Packards Performed Since Splitting Up?

Hewlett Packard split into Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co HPE and HP Inc HPQ on October 19, 2015. The initiative was taken in order to simplify the business while providing more financial flexibility and encouraging innovation.

Since the split, Hewlett Packard Enterprise had significantly outperformed HP Inc in share price movement. HP Inc has risen 9.19 percent compared to Hewlett Packard Enterprises’ 18.05 percent.

Both have done well, however, compared to the S&P 500 and HP Inc’s strong Q3 earnings report on Wednesday continues to show HP Inc’s strength since October.

Neither Have Disappointed Analysts' EPS Estimates Since Split


In terms of earnings performance, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and HP Inc have not disappointed on earnings since the business split, but the latter has beaten analyst estimates on larger scale.

On average, HP Inc has surprised analyst EPS consensus estimates by 7.09 percent while Hewlett Packard Enterprise has only surprised by an average of 2.17 percent since Q4FY15. The growth of EPS, however, favors Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s earnings per share has, on average, decreased 9.36 percent month over month while HP Inc's EPS has decreased an average of 10.11 percent month over month.
