Rock Band 3, the multiplayer music game from Electronic Arts, Inc.
ERTS
and Viacom, Inc.'s
VIA
MTV Games, has released this week to mostly positive reviews. But will its sales be high enough to intrigue investors? Last year, The Beatles: Rock Band sold
nearly 600,000 copies
in its first month – a large number by most means, but a small number when compared to the millions of consumers that purchased the first two games. However, Rock Band 3 – which features a new pro-style guitar controller, a new keyboard controller, support for a real (Rock Band 3-specific) guitar, and several other enhancements – features more than one band. That, and the series' heritage, could lead to some interesting results.
