Social Media Analytics: 3 ETFs Recently Blowing Up On Twitter

As social media's relevance in the investing world continues to grow, so does the importance of keeping track of what is said in the sphere. Market Prophit compiles and analyzes social media commentary related to investing and develops statistics that tell users both the Crowd and the expert (or "Market Prophits") sentiment.

Benzinga spoke with CEO Igor Gonta, who provided an updated summary of the ETFs blowing up on Twitter Inc (NYSE: TWTR) over the past few days.

PowerShares QQQ Trust

"With the recent market hitting new highs, all eyes are on the NASDAQ, seeing if it will hit the magic 5,000, which it hasn't since 2000," Gonta explained.

Both the Crowd and Market Prophit signals went strongly bullish on PowerShares QQQ Trust, Series 1 (ETF) (NASDAQ: QQQ) on February 6, "And have been running bullish ever since, which has preceded this most recent big leg up in the ETF."

iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology Index Fund

"Biotechs are on fire making new highs," Gonta told Benzinga, and then rhetorically asked if they are going any higher.

No one knows: The Crowd and the Market Prophits are split on iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology Index (ETF) (NASDAQ: IBB), with the Crowd being bearish while the Market Prophits continue to be bullish.

iShares Barclays 20 Year Treasury Bond Fund ETF

"Janet Yellen spoke to Congress this week about the Fed's perspectives on how it is going to approach future meetings and potential rate setting objectives and policies. In the last several months, U.S. Treasuries have given back some of their gains possibly pricing in an earlier rate increase some time mid this year.

“Recently though, after the speech, it isn't so clear and some are thinking that it might be a while longer until rates start to rise. And iShares Barclays 20+ Yr Treas.Bond (ETF) (NYSE: TLT) has started to rise a bit. While the Crowd is somewhat bearish on TLT, the Market Prophits are strongly bullish on it."
