Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) is trying to get online gambling legalized as part of the Obama tax cut extension, and it's aggravating Republicans to no end. A report from
Politico
shows that Reid has changed his mind on the issue, as he received tremendous contributions from Harrah's, MGM resorts
MGM
in his reelection campaign. These two companies also donated heavily to an organization that attached Sharon Angle, who narrowly lost to Reid for a Nevada Senate seat. Senator Orin Hatch (R-UT) has confirmed this. They're trying," said Hatch. "Sen. Reid would like to do that." Meanwhile, there is a ton of blow-back if this happens, as House Republicans would go nuts if it gets added. “The House Republicans will go crazy if this is in the bill,” said one senior congressional aide. “You could call him ‘Harrah Reid' at this point,” the aide said. Online gambling would be beneficial for names like Las Vegas Sands
LVS
, Wynn
WYNN
and MGM if, and when it does happen.
