Google Inc GOOG GOOG has released details of the concept The Physical Web, in which smart objects can broadcast relevant URLs that any nearby device can receive.

As the number of smart devices is going to increase exponentially, Google believes there should be a system that lets anyone interact with any device at any time.

The physical web would extend the Internet into the physical world, allowing businesses to directly communicate with mobile devices to offer promotions and deals, among others, if the user allows the app to access their device.

Since the concept is based on URLs, the mobile device user cannot be tracked because the user gathers the content without connecting to the beacon.

Ultimately, the physical web gives consumers a standardized way to receive notifications from other smart devices if they choose to receive the information.
