Audi has unveiled its newest electric vehicle. After the Audi e-Tron SUV, Audi is going for the sports sedan segment.

The new e-Tron GT features 238 miles of EPA-rated range from a 93.4-kWh battery pack, 270-kW max charge rate, up to 637 horsepower and a drag coefficient as low as 0.24. The E-Tron GT will be available for purchase in the U.S. starting summer 2021.

Audi aimed to make a stylish sports sedan, while also keeping drag low to help with range and efficiency. The car looks similar to the Porsche Taycan, but at a lower cost.

The lowest trim level is $99,900, while the high end RS e-Tron GT will cost $139,900. These prices don't include taxes and other fees.

The 93.4-kWh battery has an 800-volt architecture. This allows the car to charge at up to 270 kWh, slightly faster than Tesla Inc's TSLA 250-kWh current max charge rate.

Audi advertises it can recharge the battery from 5%-80% in just 22.5 minutes. This is equivilant to adding approximately 180 miles of range in that amount of time.

Benzinga's Take: While the vehicle has nice, high end looks, the stats leave a lot to be desired. Tesla's $79,990 Model S has a range of over 400 miles, a faster zero-to-60, top speed and other features.

Tesla's $139,900 version of the Model S, set to be released later this year, will have a range over 500 miles. This makes the sub-250-mile range of the similarly priced Audi quite embarrassing.

The stats are more similar to Tesla's Model 3 Performance, which which has far more range (315 miles) and can be had for as little as $54,990.
