What You Need To Know About KEYone, Blackberry's New Device

BlackBerry Ltd BBRY's market share in the smartphone market when rounded to one decimal point is 0.0 percent. This isn't deterring the company from launching a new smartphone called the Blackberry KEYone.

Blackberry over the weekend introduced the KEYone smartphone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. According to PCWorld, the phone will launch in April and offers a physical keyboard with a few unique features.

For example, each key on the keyboard can be used as a shortcut so pressing "F" can bring up the Facebook Inc FB app and "U" can pull up the Uber app.

Blackberry is hoping its new phone, which is manufactured by TCL, will attract new users from the consumer market and not just from the enterprise market.

Behind The Scenes

Powering the phone is a 35-5 mAh battery, the largest ever used in any Blackberry device, also boasts a fast-charging mode. In addition, the phone can also transition automatically to a power-saving mode while it charges to speed up the process.

The phone is powered by a SnapDragon 625 processor, an Adreno 506 graphics chip, and an X9 LTE modem

The phone itself runs Android 7.1 (Nougat) with a custom interface called BlackBerry Hub which gathers messages, e-mails, texts and social media accounts into one inbox. The screen measures 4.5-inch and boasts a 1620x1080 pixel display.

The phone also comes with additional levels of security, including a special security dashboard called DTEK.

Finally, the camera consists of an 8 megapixel autofocus rear camera.
