3 Major Flaws With Apple's AirPods

Did Apple Inc. AAPL make the right decision in introducing wireless headphones?

According to a CNBC report, several audio executives said there are three major flaws with the wireless earphones, and none of those have to do with appearance.

Mike Culver, president of Libratone, pointed out that Apple's wireless functionality can only last five hours per charge although it does come equipped with a portable charging case that offers more than 24 hours of battery life.

Dunja LaRosa, director and head of mobile audio at Sony Electronics, told CNBC that Apple's earphone lacks the ability to produce a high-resolution listening experience. Larosa did acknowledge that the future of music listening is indeed gravitating towards wireless but the technology hasn't progressed enough to offer a true high-resolution audio experience.

Andreas Sennheiser, co-CEO of Sennheiser, told CNBC that a lack of active noise cancelation in Apple's earphone is a major drawback as the feature is "pretty important to customers."

Sennheiser, along with Bose, Sony and Apple-owned Beats are all working on technologies that allow the user to decide how much external noise is let in. For instance, a user would want to completely block out as much noise as possible when sitting in an airplane, but when walking on a city street they would need to hear enough noise to listen for cars passing by.
