As if we didn't already have enough ways to play and share music.
There's a new Google
GOOG
Chrome extension in town, and it's bringing music to Facebook
much sooner than the official rollout
.
+Music
is described as a “super simple way to stream online music,” allowing users to listen to any band while browsing the Web, search for artists, use MP3s or Rdio music, and view online profiles of your favorite bands. In other words, it's a more-of-the-same extension for people craving more of the same! On the upside, it does feature some decent (if not predictable) Facebook features:
  • Share streamable tracks in your Facebook feed
  • One-click listening from official band pages
  • View Similar Bands in the left column
  • Convenient playback controls in the header
“+Music fetches a selection of mp3s that have been posted on music blogs creates a fast, convenient player inside your browser,”
Swarm.fm describes
. “You can also play music from Rdio's catalog if you have a subscription (highly recommended). “For it's [sic] sharing features, it uses Facebook's Open Graph protocol to embed streamable music when you recommend a track (no authentication required). The swarm.fm website acts as a home for any content shared via +Music (with more to come).”
