Former Democratic Senator Al Franken said in an interview with Bill Maher on Friday that President Joe Biden is wrong to impose tariffs on Chinese EVs. 
What Happened: The imposition of higher tariffs on Chinese imports is eventually passed down to the U.S. consumer and is not borne by China, Franken said on Friday about tariffs. 
While Franken was referring to Trump&#8217;s promise of 60% tariffs for all imports from China if voted President in the upcoming elections, Maher noted that Biden too has imposed higher tariffs on EVs made in China.
&#8220;Well in that case dammit, Biden&#8217;s wrong,&#8221; Franken said. 
Why It Matters: The U.S. Trade Representative&#8217;s office said on Friday that many of the tariffs announced by President Joe Biden earlier this year, including a 100% duty on Chinese EVs and a 25% duty on EV batteries, will take effect on Sept. 27. 
American EV giant Tesla Inc&#8216;s CEO Elon Musk previously slammed the tariffs <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/09/40825946/china-wants-automakers-to-safeguard-their-ev-technology-and-keep-it-within-the-country-as-companies">proposed by the Biden administration</a>, saying that neither Tesla nor he asked for them. 
&#8220;Things that inhibit freedom of exchange or distort the market are not good,&#8221; <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/05/39006664/elon-musk-slams-biden-administration-over-100-tariffs-on-chinese-ev-imports-things-that-distort-the">Musk said</a>. 
Ford Motor Co, meanwhile, requested that the proposed tariffs on artificial graphite be reduced given they are a key element in making EV batteries.

Coniagas Initiates Global Feed First Strategy on Critical Minerals with SGS Quebec

The United States and the United Kingdom are reportedly concerned that Russia is sharing classified information and technology with Iran which could help the latter build nuclear weapons. 
What Happened: Russia has been escalating its cooperation with Iran over its pursuit of atomic weapons, Bloomberg <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-09-14/us-uk-on-edge-as-russia-shares-nuclear-secrets-with-iran">reported</a>, citing Western officials familiar with the matter. Iran will, in turn, provide Russia with ballistic missiles for use in its ongoing war with Ukraine, they said. 
The issue was a point of discussion between US and UK officials in Washington this week when British Prime Minister Keir Starmer met U.S. President Joe Biden at the White House, the report added. 
Why It Matters: The U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken alluded to this exchange of nuclear technology during a press conference in London last week. He then said that Russia had received a shipment of Iran's Fath-360 ballistic missiles, Bloomberg reported.
"For its part, Russia is sharing technology that Iran seeks — this is a two-way street — including on nuclear issues, as well as some space information," Blinken said.
Despite Iran&#8217;s insistence that it has no plans to develop nuclear weapons, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) observed a surge in Iran&#8217;s nuclear fuel levels between June and August, raising concerns.

New Glenn is a reusable heavy-lift rocket named after&nbsp;John Glenn, the first American to orbit Earth. The development of the vehicle, expected to compete with SpaceX's Falcon launch vehicle, has been delayed for years.

A Cybertruck is estimated to have about 1,360 individual 4680 cells in its battery. This implies that the company has now made enough cells for over 73,500 Cybertruck units.

The results were promising: those using the suppository reported notably reduced menstrual pain, improved mood and a decrease in the use of pain medications compared to those using conventional treatments.
"This is the first study to assess the impact of a ‘real-world,' commercially-available, high-CBD suppository on menstrual-related pain and discomfort," the report states. 
The findings suggest that these suppositories could alleviate a range of menstrual-related symptoms, enhance daily functioning and decrease reliance on analgesics. After one month, 72.9% of the CBD users noted at least moderate improvement, which increased to 81.1% after two months.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Higher CBD Usage Tied To Greater Menstrual Symptom Relief</h3>
An intriguing aspect of the study was the observed dose-dependent response. Participants who used the suppositories more frequently reported greater symptom relief. "Increased suppository use was significantly associated with greater reduction of symptoms," the report indicates.
Despite these encouraging results, the researchers call for further investigation. They advocate for randomized clinical trials to replicate these findings and confirm the efficacy of cannabinoid-based therapies for menstrual pain. "Vaginal suppositories can be an effective route of administration for cannabinoid-based therapies," they add.

This study builds on earlier <a href="https://psycnet.apa.org/fulltext/2024-61679-001.html">research</a> published in March, which examined the impact of orally administered CBD on menstrual-related symptoms. The study, which claimed to be the first to examine cannabidiol&#8217;s effects on menstrual-related symptoms (MRS) and irritability, found significant improvements. 
&#8220;Results revealed reductions…in MRS, irritability, anxiety, global impression of change, stress, and subjective severity scores when comparing baseline to all 3 months of CBD consumption,&#8221; the authors wrote, concluding that &#8220;CBD may be an effective treatment in alleviating MRS.&#8221;
