The company on Tuesday announced performance-based job cuts that could impact about 5% of the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/10/41377833/meta-cuts-jobs-in-whatsapp-instagram-and-reality-labs-in-latest-reorganization">company&#8217;s total workforce</a>.
What Happened: According to a Bloomberg <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-01-14/meta-is-planning-to-cut-5-of-lowest-performers-memo-shows?srnd=homepage-americas&amp;embedded-checkout=true">report</a> citing an internal memo to employees, Meta is cutting approximately 5% of its 72,000 workers based on performance. 
&#8220;I've decided to raise the bar on performance management and move out low-performers faster," Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg reportedly said in an internal memo.
"We typically manage out people who aren't meeting expectations over the course of a year &#8230; but now we're going to do more extensive performance-based cuts during this cycle."
Meta dubbed 2023 the company&#8217;s &#8220;year of efficiency&#8221; as it slashed jobs in an effort to cut costs. This time around, the job cuts appear to be aimed at strengthening the company for what Zuckerberg expects will be an &#8220;intense year&#8221; focused on AI, smart glasses and social media innovations. 
Meta said U.S. employees impacted by the performance cuts will be notified by Feb. 10 and be eligible for &#8220;generous severance.&#8221; Employees outside of the U.S. are expected to be notified at a later date.

Meta Platforms Announces Performance-Based Job Cuts: What's Going On?

Genius Group Ltd (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GNS#NASDAQ">GNS</a>) shares are trading higher by 9.86% to 66 cents during Tuesday&#8217;s session after the company announced a $33 million rights offering to increase its Bitcoin treasury.
What To Know: Genius Group says shareholders as of January 24, will receive one transferable right per share, allowing them to purchase additional shares at 50 cents each. 
Proceeds from the fully subscribed offering will be used to increase the company&#8217;s Bitcoin holdings from $35 million to $68 million. Genius Group also plans to secure up to $20 million in additional loans, potentially expanding its Bitcoin Treasury to $86 million. 
Additionally, Founder and CEO Roger Hamilton intends to acquire 500,000 additional shares, bringing his stake to 10.3%, and fully participate in the offering.

FDA Proposes Front-Of-Package Label To Improve Nutrition Transparency

Market price action continues to tick up in volatility while still holding a wide range. For this reason, when I trade I&#8217;m choosing option chains that hold a fair bit of premium and choosing a stock that shows reflexive buying when prices dip into monthly support lines. One in particular has caught my eye.
Today, we'll consider what this stock does from a purely technical perspective while we collect revenue from it through another short iron condor. This is typically called an options income generation spread.&nbsp;
Let me show you.
When we position with short iron condors, we attempt to collect time decay while a chart bases or settles before heading in a new or continued direction. As always, we assume that we don't know the direction but are able to estimate the magnitude of the move using the ATR (average true range &#8211; measured on the weekly chart, this time) and the implied moves that the market makers have priced into the move over the months ahead.&nbsp;
The short iron condor consists of two spreads – a short call spread and a short put spread that define a range of motion that we estimate the price action will not exceed:
<ul>
<li>Sell to open 1 PSTG 21 Feb 70 calls </li>
<li>Buy to open 1 PSTG 21 Feb 75 calls </li>
<li>Sell to open 1 PSTG 21 Feb 55 puts </li>
<li>Buy to open 1 PSTG 21 Feb 50 puts </li>
</ul>
At this writing the credit received is $1.09 and this credit is also the maximum profit we could collect overall. With this kind of position, we collect a premium and as this premium erodes, we collect revenue from the position.&nbsp;
Our maximum risk is calculated in the following way: the distance between strikes (here they are both the same at $5), so $5.00, minus the amount of the credit we collect, which is $1.09 = $3.91&nbsp;
Why take a trade where the risk is often more than twice the size of the reward? The answer is this – the probability of the short iron condor with strikes far out of the money (meaning far away from the price of the stock currently) potentially returning gains is often as much as 6 times more likely than the long iron condor in this specific example.&nbsp;
Trading on the side of probabilities, rather than the possibility of outsized gains, is the way most traders who sell options as their primary revenue generation lean on the law of large numbers – what happens over a long period of time – converging to net gains, generally speaking.&nbsp;
The price for PSTG is currently range bound with resistance near $70 and support near $55, which is how I picked the strike prices for the trade.&nbsp;
The strategy result provides three choices to exit the trade:
<ol>
<li>To buy back the iron condor once it gets to an acceptable profit margin for you. I customarily look for 30%-60% profit for these kinds of trades in the current environment of volatility. </li>
<li>To buy back the iron condor once it hits a loss threshold as determined by personal risk – this will happen with extreme movement. I customarily look at about 50% though depending on my size </li>
<li>To buy back the spreads into the week before expiration, if all is going well and you have decided to hold the trade into closer to the end of expiration (I have had many a trade go sideways taking it down to the wire and not capturing gains, so I do not advise this). </li>

Pfizer&#8217;s CEO stated that the company revamped its commercial strategy, brought in new leadership, and exceeded market share expectations. On the cost side, Pfizer achieved $4 billion in savings and announced an additional $1.5 billion in margin improvements.
In R&amp;D, leadership <a target="_blank" href="https://investors.pfizer.com/files/doc_events/2025/Jan/13/PFE-USQ_Transcript_2025-01-13.pdf" rel="noreferrer noopener">changed</a> for the first time in 15 years, with Mikael Dolsten stepping down, and the team underwent a restructuring. Bourla also highlighted returns to shareholders, including over $7 billion in dividends and $4.5 billion toward debt repayment in the first nine months.

Looking at the period from 2025 to 2030, Pfizer is facing a significant loss of exclusivity (LOE) wave that will reduce revenues by about $17-18 billion between 2026 and 2028.
Bourla said the products acquired are projected to bring in $20 billion in revenue by 2030, which should offset those losses and provide some growth.
Additionally, the company is counting on revenues from products already launched and others in the pipeline. This is where the gap lies between Pfizer&#8217;s outlook and market expectations.
While new product launches in 2023 were underwhelming, Pfizer made significant progress in 2024, which makes the company optimistic about future performance.
When asked about the visibility into the business, Albert Bourla added that the main difference between 2024 and 2025 is the stabilization of the COVID business.
In 2024, guidance reflected significant uncertainty, partly due to miscalculations in COVID-19 revenue, the transition of Paxlovid to a commercial model, and contract renegotiations with Europe. As a result, Pfizer was cautious when setting expectations.
For 2024, the company reconfirmed guidance in December. For 2025, projections are similarly strong, with COVID revenues expected <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/biotech/24/12/42530634/pfizer-does-not-anticipate-material-changes-to-us-vaccine-policy-from-the-incoming-administration-in-2025" rel="noreferrer noopener">to remain stable</a>.
Vaccination rates are low but consistent, and Pfizer anticipates achieving similar results in 2025 as in 2024.
For Paxlovid, demand closely tracks COVID waves, which have followed a predictable pattern over the last three years—two waves annually. Overall, the company foresees stability in our COVID business moving forward.
