At the HIV Analyst &amp; Investor Event on Tuesday, Gilead Sciences Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GILD#NASDAQ">GILD</a>) revealed that it is developing a once-yearly injectable formulation for lenacapavir.
The annual formulation is currently in Phase 1 study, with data to be presented.
In its investor presentation, the company said it <a target="_blank" href="https://s29.q4cdn.com/585078350/files/doc_events/2024/Dec/10/GILD-HIV-Analyst-Investor-Event-Presentation-10-December-2024.pdf" rel="noreferrer noopener">expects</a> the pivotal Phase 3 pharmacokinetics study&#8217;s first patient to be in 2025, and potential regulatory filings will begin in late 2027.

In November, the&nbsp;New England Journal of Medicine&nbsp;published the full results from Gilead&#8217;s Phase 3 PURPOSE 2 trial evaluating twice-yearly lenacapavir for HIV prevention.
The study found that twice-yearly lenacapavir for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) was highly efficacious at reducing HIV infections, reducing them by 96% compared to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/11/b42225869/gilead-announces-new-england-journal-of-medicine-publication-of-purpose-2-results" rel="noreferrer noopener">background HIV incidence</a>.
Twice-yearly lenacapavir for PrEP also demonstrated superiority to once-daily Truvada&nbsp;(emtricitabine 200 mg and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate 300 mg; F/TDF) for PrEP and was generally well-tolerated, with no significant or new safety concerns identified.
In 2021, the FDA approved ViiV Healthcare&#8217;s Apretude, the first injectable form of PrEP administered every two months.
Pfizer Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PFE#NYSE">PFE</a>) and GSK Plc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GSK#NYSE">GSK</a>) own ViiV Healthcare.
STAT News <a target="_blank" href="https://www.statnews.com/2024/12/11/hiv-prevention-gilead-once-a-year-prep/?utm_campaign=rss" rel="noreferrer noopener">highlights</a> that Gilead plans to seek approval for a PrEP injection that requires only two clinic visits per year. This less frequent dosing has been shown to be more effective than traditional daily oral PrEP.
However, global access to these new PrEP options remains a challenge. Former CDC director Rochelle Walensky criticized ViiV for not prioritizing accessibility in Africa and urged Gilead to ensure broader availability <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/biotech/24/07/39940874/gileads-42-5k-priced-hiv-drug-could-be-made-at-just-40-annually-campaigners-urge-company-to-slash" rel="noreferrer noopener">of its drug lenacapavir</a>.
Unlike vaccines, which train the immune system to recognize and fight viruses long-term, PrEP relies on antivirals that are effective only while active in the body. The main challenge has been developing drugs that remain effective for extended periods.
While significant progress has been made with long-lasting PrEP, the same cannot be said for HIV vaccines.
Efforts to create a vaccine have struggled against the virus&#8217;s complexity, and no vaccines are currently in late-stage trials following recent setbacks.
The success of long-term PrEP may further complicate vaccine development by reducing the urgency for alternatives.

Shares of Ciena Corporation (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CIEN#NYSE">CIEN</a>) rose sharply during Thursday's session after the company reported <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/12/42460647/ciena-q4-earnings-misses-eps-estimates-margins-decline-names-new-chair">better-than-expected fourth-quarter sales results.</a>
Ciena reported a fiscal fourth-quarter 2024 revenue decline of 0.5% year-on-year to $1.124 billion, beating the analyst consensus estimate of $1.104 billion.
Ciena shares jumped 14.8% to $84.11 on Thursday.

Ciena Posts Strong Sales, Joins Gambling.com, Warner Bros. Discovery And Other Big Stocks Moving Higher On Thursday

JP Morgan analyst Cory A Carpenter reiterated the Overweight rating on Match Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MTCH#NASDAQ">MTCH</a>).
The analyst notes that while Match Group&#8217;s fourth quarter outlook and initial 2025 forecast were disappointing, the company&#8217;s AI-driven roadmap shows potential for reinvigorating user growth, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/MTCH/analyst-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener">particularly through Tinder&#8217;s AI features.</a>
However, the analyst points out that AI progress is still early, with only the Photo Selector feature fully implemented.
Despite concerns over Tinder&#8217;s revenue and user trends, Carpenter is more optimistic about Match Group&#8217;s free cash flow potential, which could help limit downside.
Still, improvement in user and revenue metrics for Tinder is necessary for any share price increase, which seems unlikely in 2025.

Carpenter highlights that Match Group&#8217;s implied dividend yield of 2.4% is significantly higher than other internet companies like Google (0.4%) and Meta Platforms, Inc. (0.3%), which could appeal to value-focused investors.
The analyst anticipates that revenue estimates will be slightly revised downward (to a 6% CAGR, compared to the previous 4-6% guidance), while free cash flow per share estimates for 2027 may be slightly raised ($4.68 vs. the ~$5 guidance).

According to the report, Netflix introduced the unlimited leave policy nearly a decade ago as part of its &#8220;freedom and responsibility&#8221; culture, trusting employees to determine their limits.

Netflix has transitioned from its original emphasis on unlimited parental leave, opting for informal guidance suggesting six months as a standard timeframe.
WSJ report said that internal communications reveal that managers and human resources staff often encourage employees to discuss leave durations based on what works for the individual and the business.
Recent updates to the company&#8217;s culture memo removed explicit references to unlimited leave, reflecting Netflix&#8217;s broader cultural adjustments as it prioritizes profitability over subscriber growth.
This shift includes cost-cutting measures, such as limiting discretionary spending and realigning salary structures to industry standards, the report added.
Netflix spokespersons told WSJ that the company&#8217;s talent retention metrics remain strong, with a 93% acceptance rate for job offers and just 3% voluntary attrition.

Data from the Federal Reserve reveals this trend is especially pronounced among women in their 30s and 40s. Although this age group represents about 46% of the U.S. workforce, their employment rate falls slightly below men&#8217;s, primarily due to caregiving obligations.
Companies such as Amazon.Com Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>) have urged employees to return to the office five days a week, marking a shift from the pandemic, which prompted companies to allow their employees to work from home. Video platform company Rumble Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RUM#NASDAQ">RUM</a>) could have reasons to smile with several announced picks of the new <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/24/12/42428224/trump-names-andrew-ferguson-as-ftc-chair-replacing-lina-khan-pledges-to-end-big-techs-vendetta-against-competition-and-free-speech">White House administration.</a>
What Happened: Rumble filed several lawsuits against Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOG#NASDAQ">GOOG</a>)(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>) unit Google over the years, alleging <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/21/01/19115584/youtube-rival-rumble-sues-google-over-alleged-search-ranking-bias-wsj">favoritism for YouTube</a> in search results and digital advertising practices.
While Alphabet <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/tech/24/11/42105079/googles-unlawful-behavior-stifles-market-entry-for-rivals-doj-says-alphabet-must-sell-chrome-to-end-search-monopoly">faces a current battle </a>with the Department of Justice, there could be more to come with several figures close to Rumble expected to be part of Donald Trump's new administration.
Trump recently announced he will nominate Andrew Ferguson to lead the Federal Trade Commission, replacing Lina Khan. Trump also announced his plan to make Mark Meador a FTC commissioner.

Meador previously taking on Google on behalf of Rumble could be an item for Rumble investors to watch as it could set the table for further antitrust lawsuits against the search giant in the future. 
The addition of Meador by Trump joins several other members of the upcoming administration that have ties to Rumble.
Vice president-elect J.D. Vance <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/07/39799850/5-things-you-might-not-know-about-j-d-vance-hillbilly-elegy-author-bitcoin-holder-first-mi">was an investor </a>in Rumble. Department of Government Efficiency co-lead Vivek Ramaswamy was also an investor in Rumble.
Trump recently announced David Sacks will serve as the White House AI and Crypto Czar. Sacks is a current member of Rumble's oard of directors.
Rumble also has a working relationship with Trump Media &amp; Technology Group (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DJT#NASDAQ">DJT</a>), the media company co-founded by Trump.

Why It's Important: Ferguson shared his plan to "end Big Tech's vendetta" on free speech when he was announced as Trump's pick. With Rumble being a leading free speech platform, the company could end up a winner if others are targeted for leaving Rumble out of search results.
Sacks said there was<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/11/42058073/google-should-be-broken-up-vc-david-sacks-foresees-high-odds-of-antitrust-lawsuit-or-breakup-under-donald-trumps-administration"> a high likelihood</a> of a breakup of Alphabet under Trump recently.
"Google should be broken up," Sacks said.
Vance also expressed support to break up Google<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/politics/24/07/39826475/trumps-new-running-mate-j-d-vance-wants-to-break-up-google-could-2024-election-be-bad-for-big-te"> earlier this year.</a>
"It's time to break Google up. This matters far more than any other election integrity issue. The monopolistic control of information in our society resides with an explicitly progressive technology company," Vance tweeted.
The current FTC leadership under Khan has taken on Big Tech companies like Alphabet, Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>), Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>) and Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>).
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Meta co-founder Mark Zuckerberg <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/12/42466189/trump-talks-stocks-bitcoin-ai-economy-with-jim-cramer-youre-going-to-see-some-very-good-days-ahead">have met with Trump</a> or are planning to meet with Trump in potential moves to position their respective companies to not being targeted by the new administration.
Adding it all up there are likely going to be several people connected to Rumble involved in Trump's new administration and the company could be a winner from their support and from potential Big Tech targets such as Google targeted for anticompetitive behavior.

The order includes a mix of PoC handsets and Real-Time View devices for an existing client. These milestones come ahead of a late Dec. 2024 press event, where Siyata plans to unveil a significant new development.
