The company&#8217;s outrage comes on the heels of recalling 27,185 Cybertrucks due to a delay in the rearview camera image when shifting into reverse. The company fixed the issue with an over-the-air software remedy.
U.S. auto safety regulator National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) terms all vehicle safety issue fixes as recalls, irrespective of whether the fix was via a software update or required the vehicle owner to visit the service center.
Why It Matters: Musk and several other Tesla executives have also previously <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/02/36921334/elon-musk-criticizes-labeling-over-the-air-fixes-as-recalls-for-tesla-vehicles-by-that-anachronistic" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">condemned the use of the word &#8220;recall&#8221;</a> for fixes issued via an over-the-air (OTA) software update.
&#8220;This "recall" literally just changes a few pixels on the screen with an over-the-air update. By that anachronistic standard, phones are being "recalled" every few weeks,&#8221; Musk said in February after the company issued a &#8216;recall' for about&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/02/36906058/tesla-initiates-first-ever-cybertruck-recall-as-part-of-larger-2-2m-vehicle-callback" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">2.2 million vehicles</a>&nbsp;due to concerns about a smaller font size for warning lights compromising the visibility of crucial safety information.

Tesla Dismisses Recent Recall Of Over 27K Cybertrucks, Says It Is Just A Free Over-The-Air Software Update: 'How Will Our Owners Ever Recover From This Ordeal'

Mary Trump, a psychologist and niece of former president <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/donald-trump">Donald Trump</a>, on Sunday, weighed in on what her uncle could do in retribution if he were to be elected for a second term.
What Happened: Donald Trump&#8217;s second term will be focused on revenue against his perceived political enemies, both foreign and domestic, and against groups such as immigrants, judges and juries that dared to hold him accountable, those who have not proven to be sufficiently loyal to him and anybody who has opposed him from the beginning, <a href="https://www.marytrump.org/p/revenge-served-hot">said</a> Mary Trump in a substack post.
<a href="http://pro.benzinga.com">Benzinga</a> has reached out to Trump&#8217;s team for its thoughts on the post.
&#8220;The prospect that such people will end up being prosecuted, imprisoned, or deported is very real,&#8221; Mary Trump said. Although the threat seems insane and unbelievable to many, &#8220;if given the power, he will have his vengeance,&#8221; she added.
The psychologist said her uncle and his inner circle will get started by first firing, &#8220;non-partisan civil servants, and hiring in their stead people who will pledge their loyalty to him, not the Constitution or the United States.&#8221; 
&#8220;Proven loyalists and sycophants will be appointed to key positions throughout the federal government, from the FBI Director to the 93 U.S. attorneys and assistant attorneys general &#8216;who help enforce federal law, an expanse that encompasses I.R.S. tax rules, Treasury Department sanctions against oligarchs and governments, antitrust cases and air and water regulations from the E.P.A.'&#8221; she added.

Mary Trump stated that once Trump loyalists secure key positions, they could begin taking actions that, at first, the other branches of government would be unable to halt. Congress does not have a direct role to play in criminal cases, she said.
The judiciary will also be dominated by Donald Trump&#8217;s &#8220;sycophants and enablers,&#8221; she said, adding that this was evident from the actions of Judge Aileen Cannon, and the super-majority on the Supreme Court, which granted him presidential immunity.
&#8220;Donald Trump is a fascist and he and the Republican Party have put this country on a path towards fascism,&#8221; Mary Trump said. &#8220;If he gets back into power, he will care nothing about governing. All of his energy will be dedicated to grifting and revenge,&#8221; she added.
Why It&#8217;s Important: Vice President Kamala Harris may have created some excitement after she replaced President Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket. This is evident from the Democratic candidate pushing ahead with a slight lead after the race was running neck-on-neck or with a slight edge for Donald Trump when Biden was running. 
Harris is also widely believed to have won the only televised presidential debate held last month.
That said, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/10/41196906/polls-suggest-this-candidate-holds-slim-lead-in-presidential-race-with-one-month-to-go">Harris&#8217; lead is too tenuous </a>to be called decisive. The polling average, compiled by FiveThirtyEight, shows Harris ahead of Donald Trump by 2.6 points. The difference is within the sampling error of most nationwide polls.
Polymarket shows the odds of a Donald Trump victory at 51% as opposed to 48% for Harris.

While the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/24/10/41179608/mark-zuckerberg-bulldozes-past-jeff-bezos-to-become-worlds-2nd-richest-person-as-meta-stock-soar">former is perched at a record high, </a>the latter, despite its recent strong run, is yet to reclaim its Jan. 2021 peak. 
Here&#8217;s a look at the relative performance of these two stocks and what the near-term holds for them:
Meta Vs. Palantir: Meta has gained over 68% for the year-to-date period, while Palantir is up a steeper 133%. The data analytics company co-founded by Peter Thiel is the fourth best-performing S&amp;P 500 company this year, while Meta, co-founded by Mark Zuckerberg, holds the 11th spot on the list.

As is seen in the chart, both stocks have outperformed the broader market, as represented by the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) &#8211; an exchange-traded fund that tracks the S&amp;P 500 Index.
Valuations of both stocks have become expensive following the recent spike. The forward price-earnings ratio for Palantir is currently at a hefty 95.2 but Meta is trading at a more modest forward P/E valuation of 24.75. The social media giant&#8217;s P/E ratio is fairly in line with 21.3 which is applicable to the communications services sector.

The Palantir Rally: Palantir has been on an uptrend since it gap-opened higher on Sept. 9, the first session after the S&amp;P Dow Jones Indices said the company would be added to the S&amp;P 500 Index, effective prior to the start of trading on Sept. 23. Commenting on the feat, Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives said, &#8220;The profitability profile of this story has significantly been bolstered with this <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/09/40766713/palantirs-s-p-500-inclusion-another-validation-moment-as-it-embarks-on-new-era-of-e">another validation moment for the Palantir story.&#8221;</a>
Although there was a &#8216;buy the rumor, sell the news&#8217; moment after the inclusion, the stock has been grinding solidly higher since the start of October.

Meta Connects With Investors: After the early August broader market swoon set in motion by yen carry-trade unwinding, Meta&#8217;s stock found its feet shortly after and climbed higher until mid-August. The stock experienced a mild pullback that lasted through mid-September.
The two-day Meta Connect conference held on Sept. 25-26 saw the company announcing a slew of products and other offerings. These include AI-driven chatbots, an updated Llama large-language model, the latest Ray-Ban smart glasses with improved camera functionality, voice controls, and deeper integration with AI, Meta Quest 4, the next-generation virtual reality headset, and the Orion augmented reality glasses.
The stock has been on a steady climb since then.

The next big catalyst for Meta is likely to be the company&#8217;s third-quarter results due on Oct. 30, with the consensus modeling over 30% earnings per share growth and nearly 20% revenue growth. Meta&#8217;s fortunes to a large extent is tied to ad spending, which in turn hinges on macroeconomic conditions. With the Fed showing a proclivity to take rates down in the coming months, credit conditions could ease, potentially benefiting Meta.
Palantir is a favorite among retail investors. Continuing deal flow, and strong third-quarter results and positive fourth-quarter guidance could keep the upward momentum intact.
More importantly, the market has entered a seasonally strong quarter when a confluence of factors typically lifts the market. The stretched valuations, therefore, may not preclude further gains. That said, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/asia/24/10/41192510/labor-market-surprises-with-strength-energy-stocks-rally-on-israel-iran-tensions-chinese-tech-giants">investors may remain wary of geopolitical and macroeconomic headwinds, </a>with two wars ongoing and a hard-landing scenario still not off the table.

However, Temu relies on expensive social media advertising to reach consumers as it grows its current position.



Furthermore, general sentiment towards Chinese companies among U.S. retail investors may worsen.&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://nypost.com/2024/02/26/business/us-lawmakers-demand-import-ban-on-goods-bought-on-chinese-app-temu-over-alleged-forced-labor-report/">Should the U.S. government signal a willingness to ban companies</a>&nbsp;based on national security, investors may choose to divest rapidly. Thus, PDD&rsquo;s price stability could suffer in the wake of a TikTok ban.&nbsp;



Moreover, Temu is a relatively new venture in the U.S. and is still working on building its business reputation. This has proven difficult for PDD, as many American consumers are put off by the low-quality offerings on Temu.



<h2>Alibaba (BABA)</h2>

Much like the aforementioned Temu, Alibaba dominates the Chinese e-commerce market by offering inexpensive goods purchased directly from Chinese manufacturers. The company&rsquo;s international reach is mostly limited to Aliexpress and its few cloud computing services. Thus, it could significantly be weakened by a shift in U.S. government policy.



That&rsquo;s because AliExpress relies on capturing international markets, such as&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.statista.com/chart/30585/shopping-at-aliexpress-survey/">Europe and South America</a>. Some countries in these regions are hardline opposers of the Chinese Communist Party and may follow suit by banning TikTok. Much like the challenges facing PDD Holdings, Alibaba could struggle to maintain its reputation in Western markets. This could ultimately result in retail investors deciding that Chinese stocks are no longer worth the risk.



Even more concerning is the fact that Alibaba&rsquo;s CEO, Jack Ma,&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2023/06/16/alibaba-founder-jack-ma-is-alive-and-happy-after-china-crackdown.html">faced direct punishment from the Chinese government in 2020</a>. Today, Alibaba&rsquo;s new CEO has been strictly in line with the Communist Party, unlike his astute predecessor.&nbsp;



<h2>HelloFresh (HELFY)</h2>

Known for its social media marketing, HelloFresh relies on short-form advertisements to spread awareness about its meal kit delivery services. Without TikTok, which reaches 170 million Americans a year, HelloFresh will have to advertise on more expensive apps.



This could significantly impact the company&rsquo;s advertisement spending and overall revenues from newly acquired customers. Moreover, HelloFresh&rsquo;s advertisements tend to perform well on TiTok due to the significant food culture present on the app. With so many viewers turning to TikTok for cooking and recipe videos, it is one of the most natural advertising outlets for HelloFresh.



This makes HelloFresh one of the stocks that will exit ahead of Chinese app bans, and it could see its stock price take a hit. However, should its share price drop, HelloFresh will recover because its business model does not need TikTok in the long run.
