Today, the U.S. Department of Commerce and Wolfspeed (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/wolf#NYSE">WOLF</a>) announced they have signed a non-binding preliminary memorandum of terms (PMT) for up to $750 million in proposed direct funding under the CHIPS and Science Act. In addition, a consortium of investment funds led by Apollo, The Baupost Group, Fidelity Management &amp; Research Company and Capital Group have agreed to provide Wolfspeed an additional $750 million of new financing. Together these investments support Wolfspeed's long-term growth plans and bolster domestic production of silicon carbide to power clean energy systems underpinning electric vehicles (EVs), artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, battery storage and more. Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) sold more <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/tesla-cybertruck">Cybertrucks</a> in the U.S. in the third quarter than the sales of Rivian R1T and Ford F-150 Lightning put together, according to new estimates from automotive research company Kelley Blue Book (KBB.)
What Happened: According to KBB&#8217;s estimates, Tesla sold 16,692 Cybertrucks in the third quarter while <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/24/10/41182921/rivians-production-forecast-hits-bump-supply-shortage-sends-shares-tumbling">Rivian sold 3,817 R1Ts</a> and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/10/41179283/fords-us-ev-sales-gather-pace-in-q3-even-as-its-best-seller-mustang-mach-e-suv-slows-down">Ford sold 7,162 F-150 Lightning trucks</a>. 
Other electric trucks to be sold in the U.S. include the GMC Sierra EV of which the brand sold 387 units and the GMC Hummer truck. GMC, however, sells both truck and SUV versions of the vehicle, the cumulative sales of which touched 4,305 units.
The sales of all EV trucks put together still fall short of the 16,692 units of Cybertruck sold by Tesla in the third quarter. 
Tesla does not provide a model-wise breakdown of EV sales, leaving third-party estimates the sole data available to gauge model sales.

Why It Matters: Cybertruck is the latest offering from Tesla. The company started delivering the truck to customers in November and is currently ramping up production. 
However, the surge in sales of the Cybertruck has negatively impacted other premium models of Tesla including the Model S and X.
According to KBB estimates, Model S sales in the U.S. fell by about 47% in the U.S. in the last quarter while Model X sales slipped by 29%.
Overall Tesla sales in the U.S., however, rose by about 7% to 166,923, cementing its position as the best-selling EV brand in the country, seconded by General Motors&#8217; <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/10/41136007/gms-ev-sales-rise-in-q3-on-the-back-of-new-models-chevrolet-equinox-ev-tops-charts">Chevrolet which sold 19,933 EVs</a> on the back of the popularity of its Blazer EV and Equinox EV.

Working alongside partner&nbsp;BSNL, India's telecommunications provider, Viasat engineers successfully showcased satellite-powered two-way messaging services for attendees at India Mobile Congress — one of Asia's largest technology fairs.&nbsp;Viasat is currently working with its partners, including BSNL in India, to power the expansion of satellite services on consumer and IoT devices across the world.
In the trial,&nbsp;Viasat demonstrated two-way messaging and SoS messaging using a commercial Android smartphone enabled for non-terrestrial network (NTN) connectivity. The messages were sent roughly 36,000km to one of Viasat's geostationary L-band satellites. The outcome proves satellite services to cell phone connectivity is technically feasible for Indian consumers and businesses using Viasat's satellite network.
Direct-to-device connectivity is a new technology which allows everyday devices – like mobile phones, smart watches, or cars – industrial machinery, and transport operators to connect seamlessly to both terrestrial and satellite coverage. This means devices can stay connected from any location without the need for dedicated hardware to connect to satellites. The new technology follows new&nbsp;<a href="https://c212.net/c/link/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4277339-1&amp;h=838258284&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.3gpp.org%2F&amp;a=global+mobile+3GPP">global mobile 3GPP</a>&nbsp;release 17 standards, which are currently being adopted by satellite operators, mobile network operators, handset and chipset manufacturers.
Viasat has a longstanding heritage in providing satellite safety services – including providing the backbone of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety Service (GMDSS), with more than 120,000 connected safety terminals, and flight deck safety communications for over 12,000 aircraft. It provides these highly reliable safety communications through its licensed L-band spectrum.

Data compiled by FactSet shows cumulative earnings of S&amp;P 500 companies rising by 4.1% in the third quarter. Although a slowdown from the 11.2% growth in the second quarter, the profit growth streak will likely extend to five quarters.
Downside Risk: Cramer termed the bond market performance &#8220;horrendous,&#8221; potentially upsetting the equity market&#8217;s rhythm. &#8220;But the pesky bonds are back open tomorrow and they have been horrendous,&#8221; he said.
The bond market was closed on Monday and will reopen on Tuesday.
Bond yields have begun to tick higher, especially after the September non-farm payrolls report surprised to the upside. The upward move solidified after the consumer price inflation for September came in more than expected. 
The 10-year bond yield dipped under 3.6% in mid-September but has rallied above 4% since then, as investors unwind some of their aggressive rate-cut bets.
In an interview with CNBC, Fund Strat Head of Research Tom Lee said the unseasonable market trend showed macro data has become less important. A lot of cash that has remained on the sidelines is flowing back to the market, he said, adding that the economy has remained resilient as opposed to expectations for a recession.
When asked about the days when the market came back up from steep losses in the futures market and finished solidly higher, the strategist said skeptical investors, wary of a potential recession that never materialized, have remained under-invested in stocks. <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/10/41300013/jp-morgan-and-wells-fargo-report-better-than-expected-q3-results-that-reflect-resilient-u-s-consumer">Earnings have also been resilient, </a>he added.
The SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>), an exchange-traded fund that tracks the S&amp;P 500 Index, rose 0.82% to $584.32 on Monday, according to <a href="https://benzinga.grsm.io/register174">Benzinga Pro data, </a>marking a record closing high.

As China's Stimulus Hype Wanes, Beijing Reportedly Weighs $850B Special Treasury Bonds To Stimulate Economy And Tackle Local Debt

SpaceX&#8216;s next generation of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/starlink">Starlink satellites</a> will be so big that it can only be launched by the company&#8217;s bigger Starship launch vehicle, company CEO Elon Musk said on Monday.
What Happened: SpaceX currently launches its Starlink satellites to the low-Earth orbit on its Falcon rocket. However, the next generation of Starlink satellites would be bigger and would need to be launched on Starship, Musk said, while adding that it would ensure better performance.
SpaceX requested the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on Friday to modify the operational parameters of its next-generation satellite system.
SpaceX requested authority to lower the altitude of its next-generation Starlink satellites, bringing them closer to Earth, and for permission to use authorized frequencies with more flexibility. Granting these modifications, SpaceX said, will deliver fiber-like broadband and ubiquitous mobile connectivity and help close the digital divide for billions of people.

The Starship is the biggest launch vehicle made to date, towering at about 121 meters and capable of carrying up to 150 metric tonnes to space.

The podcast, &#8220;The Joe Rogan Experience,&#8221; has a large following of young men, a demographic that Harris is keen to engage with.
Rogan, who hosts the most popular podcast in the United States, has a dedicated audience of millions. An interview with him would provide Harris with a platform to reach out to her supporters, particularly Black male voters, a group that she is actively targeting with her latest policy proposals.
Despite the potential interview with Rogan, Harris&#8217; campaign is also planning an interview with Fox News, a network known for its conservative programming that often supports Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, according to the report.

Meanwhile, in other news, the widely-anticipated ShibaCon, a Shiba Inu-themed conference, scheduled to take place on Nov.9 in Bangkok was postponed indefinitely.
