Evotec And Claris Ventures Streamline Access To Accelerate Programmes From Claris's Portfolio Companies Into The Clinic

<p>&nbsp;Evolution AB has been informed by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE) that it has conducted an investigation into allegations of misconduct by Evolution AB and that its investigation has been closed with no further action taken.</p>
<p>In&nbsp;November 2021&nbsp;the NJDGE received a report prepared by an unidentified firm alleging misconduct by Evolution AB. Following receipt of the report, the NJDGE commenced a thorough investigation into the allegations to determine their validity.</p>
<p>The NJDGE found no evidence that Evolution sanctioned, promoted, permitted, or otherwise materially benefitted from its content offered by operators in any market that the NJDGE considers a prohibited jurisdiction.</p>
<p>Evolution also conducted an internal review, while concluding that its due diligence and compliance processes were sufficient, Evolution took the opportunity to enhance its processes. The NJDGE supports the enhancements that Evolution has made. The enhancements did not relate to any jurisdictional violations.</p>
<p>The NJDGE&#39;s investigation into this matter is closed requiring no further action.</p>

<p>Evotec and Bristol Myers Squibb entered their strategic neuroscience collaboration in December 2016 to identify disease-modifying treatments for a broad range of neurodegenerative diseases where there remains a significant unmet medical need for therapies that slow down or reverse disease progression.</p>
<p>The partnership has generated a promising pipeline of discovery to clinical-stage programmes. A first programme, EVT8683, was in-licensed by Bristol Myers Squibb in September 2021 as BMS-986419. Following a successful Phase I study Bristol Myers Squibb announced that a Phase II study for BMS-986419 is scheduled to commence in 2024. One reason to believe the hype is that the company is starting to gain positive traction with prominent stock pickers. </p>



<p>Michael Burry, made famous in <em>The Big Short</em>, is also big on Alibaba at the moment. Alibaba currently represents <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-02-15/the-big-short-s-michael-burry-adds-to-china-tech-stock-bet-as-rout-deepens">the largest holding at Scion Asset Management</a>, Burry&rsquo;s firm. Betting on Alibaba is a contrarian position at the moment. The firm is facing stiff competition from other Chinese e-commerce firms including <strong>PDD Holdings</strong> (NASDAQ:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/pdd-stock-quote/"><strong>PDD</strong></a></span>). The owner of Temu continues to make waves in Chinese e-commerce and strengthen the competitive landscape.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Yet, Alibaba is no slouch and holds a particularly strong position in the cloud. It continues to be the dominant Cloud firm in China which is reason in and of itself to consider investing. It also <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/BABA?.tsrc=fin-srch">carries a very low beta of 0.47</a> suggesting high stability. </p>



<h2>Sociedad Quimica y Minera (SQM)</h2>

Its business continues to hum and the company is mining record volumes, yet the price collapse of lithium has pulled its shares much lower. Shares trade for $43 with target <a href="https://stockanalysis.com/stocks/sqm/forecast/">prices ranging as high as $90.50</a>. A <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/SQM?.tsrc=fin-srch">beta of 1.05</a> implies average volatility and overall stability. </p>



<p>In short, Sociedad Quimica y Minera is one of many contrarian lithium plays worth exploring at the moment. Investors are well aware that there will be a rebound in the future. It is an inevitability. The electric vehicle manufacturing industry has reached a critical mass and is established. There is no going back. That makes companies&nbsp;including Sociedad Quimica y Minera a near slam dunk with just a bit of patience.&nbsp;</p>



<p>The company&rsquo;s operations are strong based on the fact that it mined record volumes of lithium in Q3.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Yet, even though <a href="https://s25.q4cdn.com/757756353/files/doc_news/2023/11/PR_3Q2023_eng.pdf">volumes increased by 4%</a> on a year over year basis, revenues declined by more than 45%. That&rsquo;s what happens when a glut of supply floods the market. That glut, combined with slowing sales growth results in a short-term disaster. Investors with a bit of patience and the wisdom to look past those short-term issues can certainly benefit by investing in SQM stock.</p>



<h2>Darling Ingredients (DAR)</h2>

The company&nbsp;will release those earnings results on Feb 27. Weeks earlier, Darling Ingredients noted that it anticipates the quarter to be strong <a href="https://ir.darlingii.com/2024-01-25-Darling-Ingredients-Inc-Statement-on-Fiscal-Year-2023-Earnings">with its 6th consecutive year of record earnings</a>. Darling Ingredients anticipates that its core ingredients business will have performed very strongly during the quarter, providing strong growth.</p>



<p>That said, there&rsquo;s plenty of upside left for investors to take advantage of. Shares trade for $42 currently. Yet, <a href="https://stockanalysis.com/stocks/dar/forecast/">target prices run as high as $120</a>. Those shares carry a beta of 1.31 which is among the higher levels for stocks discussed in this article. However, it&rsquo;s still not a level that&rsquo;s particularly high.</p>



<p>Investing in Darling Ingredients is also particularly compelling to those interested in sustainability. The company takes edible waste byproducts from the meat industry and repurposes them into sustainable products. The company repurposes roughly 15% of global meat byproducts at more than 260 facilities worldwide engaging in the production of renewable diesel among other products.</p>



<h2>Evotec SE (EVO)</h2>

The stock trades for approximately $7 and is <a href="https://stockanalysis.com/stocks/evo/forecast/">widely expected to double in price</a>.</p>



<p>Let&rsquo;s first take a look at its fundamental position which suggests strength. The company last released earnings in November which showed that <a href="https://www.accesswire.com/viewarticle.aspx?id=801089&amp;lang=en">sales increased by 14% to &euro; 580.1 million</a>. The firm also reiterated all previous elements of guidance.</p>



<p>The company released a spate of news in January that should further interest ever forward looking investors. The company is <a href="https://www.evotec.com/en/investor-relations/news/p/evotec-and-owkin-enter-an-ai-powered-strategic-partnership-to-accelerate-therapeutics-pipeline-in-oncology-and-ii-6362">collaborating with French firm Owkin and utilizing AI for drug target discovery</a> purposes.&nbsp;Target discovery is one of the&nbsp;primary AI applications in the pharmaceutical field. It allows scientists to identify molecules with potential disease treatment capability much faster than is humanly possible. Evotec will continue to receive attention from potetnial partners as it further proves itself in that regard.</p>



<p>Evotec recently received <a href="https://www.evotec.com/en/investor-relations/news/p/evotec-announces-progress-in-strategic-neuroscience-partnership-with-bristol-myers-squibb-6364">a $25 million dollar payment </a>in connection with a joint neuroscience program with<strong> Bristol-Myers Squibb </strong>(NYSE:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/bmy-stock-quote/"><strong>BMY</strong></a>). EVO shares have a <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/EVO?.tsrc=fin-srch">relatively low beta of 1.09</a>.  </p>

Target prices suggest an upside below 100% but investors should appreciate its price stability and recent upgrades. </p>

That firm placed MGP Ingredients on its best ideas list. That list includes names that the firm believes have a strong potential to provide notable returns. The rating was a continuation of a previous outperform expectation given by Wedbush.</p>



<p>The company produces various food-grade alcohols including whiskey and rye as well as vodka and gin. It also produces industrial-grade alcohol for applications In personal care and pharmaceuticals among others. The company also owns a wide variety of commercially available spirits covering dozens of brands.&nbsp;</p>



<p>The company was established in 1941 and has a long history of serving the US alcohol industry, further suggesting stability.</p>

The business model, in short, is to hire engineers in countries such as Poland, Argentina and India with a lower labor cost than other markets. By using this workforce to fulfill IT contracts for Fortune 500 companies, there is a profitable arbitrage available. </p>



<p>Endava has tripled revenues in recent years and <a href="https://d1io3yog0oux5.cloudfront.net/_c27f04a377799cd4bdf225476278894a/endava/db/2794/27010/presentation/IR+Earnings+Presentation+Q2FY24.pdf">grown profitability</a> tremendously as firms rushed to beef up their IT capabilities during the pandemic-induced e-commerce and remote work booms. As the economy normalized in 2023, however, demand leveled off and DAVA shares collapsed.</p>



<p>Despite a huge decline in the stock price the company reiterated a commitment to 20% annualized revenue growth going forward. The firm is heavily tied to the financials industry for clients and that has caused a bump in the road with the current banking industry troubles, but the long-term trend toward IT outsourcing isn&rsquo;t going anywhere. I believe Endava shares could triple from here once the company returns to its long-term growth trajectory.</p>



<h2>Evotec (EVO)</h2>

It is a discovery company that helps with development of new clinical products and therapies. Evotec has&nbsp;<a href="https://www.evotec.com/en/innovate/pharma-partnerships">partnerships</a>&nbsp;with many of the world&rsquo;s leading pharmaceutical companies and its pipeline covers a wide range of diseases and clinical targets.</p>



<p>Arguably the most compelling part of the company&rsquo;s model comes from its multiple revenue streams from doing contractual research work for pharma companies. In many cases, it earns the right to a royalty on drugs that it helps research when they go on to obtain regulatory approval. In this way, Evotec can build a portfolio of FDA-approved drugs on which it earns an ongoing royalty stream once commercialized.</p>



<p>Evotec has already validated its business model, growing revenues from $425 million in 2018 to an estimated $1.0 billion for 2024. Shares have recently dropped 40%, creating a great entry point and once sentiment improves this stock has potential to double or more.</p>



<h2>Sibanye Stillwater (SBSW)</h2>

The price of gold has reached new all-time highs, yet gold miners are in a funk. Somehow, it&rsquo;s even worse for platinum group miners such as <strong>Sibanye Stillwater</strong> (NYSE:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/sbsw-stock-quote/"><strong>SBSW</strong></a>). SBSW stock has lost roughly half its value over the past year. </p>



<p>That has come as demand for metals that it mines has slipped. Metals such as platinum, palladium, and rhodium are integral in the auto industry, and specifically in helping to <a href="https://minrom.com/platinum-group-metals-automotive/">lower emissions</a> and make vehicles greener. While EVs had a rough year in 2023, the slump is bound to end sooner or later. </p>



<p>Sibanye Stillwater had remained profitable until recent quarters, and analysts expect it to return to profitability in 2025. However, shares are down 80% from prior highs and are near 5-year lows. This sets up the opportunity for this stock to double or more when conditions improve.</p>

<p>If you&rsquo;re on the hunt for stocks under $10, look no further. The stock market has been off to a scorching start in 2024. Indexes have been going virtually straight up and momentum stocks are flying. With the economy remaining strong and the Federal Reserve potentially set to cut interest rates, this is seemingly a best of all worlds scenario for the equity market. The enthusiasm is understandable.</p>



<p>But it does leave some investors wondering where the bargains are. After such a huge run in the major indexes, are there still cheap stocks worth buying today?</p>



<p>While many low-priced stocks have major fundamental issues, there are some real diamonds in the rough. Don&rsquo;t overpay for promising companies today when these seven stocks to buy under $10 have solid fundamentals and could be poised for major gains in the weeks and months to come.</p>



<h2>Stocks Under $10: United Microelectronics (UMC)</h2>

While <strong>Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing</strong> (NYSE:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/tsm-stock-quote/"><strong>TSM</strong></a>) tends to get all the attention, United Microelectronics has built a nice business for itself as well.</p>



<p>Indeed, with nearly $8 billion in annual revenues, United Microelectronics has proven itself more than capable of serving as a quality foundry firm for chip companies which need to diversify their supply chains away from being 100% reliant on TSM.</p>



<p>United Microelectronics is highly profitable. Shares trade for around <a href="https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/UMC/valuation/metrics">12 times earnings</a> and at just six times Enterprise Value to EBITDA. That&rsquo;s a steep discount for a tech company, especially one in a booming industry such as semiconductors. </p>



<p>As applications such as AI, internet of things, and connected cars continue to take off, there should be more and more demand for UMC&rsquo;s foundry services. And to top it all off, UMC stock offers a 7% dividend yield as well.</p>



<h2>Under Armour (UAA)</h2>

The apparel maker saw shares top $50 each at one point back in 2015. Since then, Under Armour has been on a massive losing streak, with shares falling more than 80% from their heights.</p>



<p>With the stock now in the single digits, investors might be tempted to throw in the towel. But that&rsquo;d be the wrong play; in fact, Under Armour seems set for a comeback. </p>



<p>Under Armour lost its way due to failing to make good endorsement deals and distribution decisions. In particular, an underinvestment in the direct-to-consumer channel left it in the dust compared to some other rivals. However, Under Armour&rsquo;s stronger investments in direct store distribution could give it a leg up as consumers increasingly want an omnichannel experience with the opportunity to view apparel in-store.</p>



<p>Furthermore, Under Armour&rsquo;s international channel is gaining steam, and the company&rsquo;s cost-cutting efforts are bearing fruit. All this is setting up to give Under Armour a jump in profitability and get shares back on the upswing.</p>



<p>Morningstar&rsquo;s David Swartz believes UAA stock is wildly undervalued. He assigns a fair value of <a href="https://www.morningstar.com/company-reports/1207151-under-armour-lacks-an-advantage-but-the-global-sportswear-market-remains-dynamic?listing=0P000005LV">$15.50 per share</a>, which represents more than 100% upside from the current stock price.</p>



<h2>Stocks Under $10: AvePoint (AVPT)</h2>

The firm was built with the idea of building services to help manage installations of external software, such as <strong>Microsoft&rsquo;s</strong> (NASDAQ:<span><a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/msft-stock-quote/"><strong>MSFT</strong></a></span>) 365 workplace productivity suite. </p>



<p>A client can come to AvePoint and have it set-up and maintain a firm&rsquo;s 365 installation and integrate other data management, security, and interconnectivity needs on top of that.</p>



<p>At the time that AvePoint went public, investors were concerned that AvePoint was potentially too tied to Microsoft&rsquo;s software ecosystem. However, as Microsoft has shown rapid growth &ndash; particularly in its Azure business &ndash; this has greatly expanded AvePoint&rsquo;s addressable market as <a href="https://appsource.microsoft.com/en-US/marketplace/partner-dir/fe3af2c1-e762-4b62-ad3b-e3f1ed5dd0a0/overview">a key Microsoft partner</a>.</p>



<p>AvePoint has grown revenues from $116 million in 2019 to $271 million in 2023, and should bring in about $315 million this year. In addition, the company recently reached profitability and should enjoy rapid EPS growth as it benefits from operating scale. With AVPT stock still selling at a 25 percent discount to its initial $10 SPAC offering price, there is plenty more upside ahead.</p>



<h2>Evotec SE (EVO)</h2>

It is focused on drug discovery; specifically, it helps biotech and pharma firms with the development of new clinical products and therapies. <a href="https://www.evotec.com/en/innovate/pharma-partnerships">Evotec has partnerships</a>&nbsp;with many of the world&rsquo;s leading pharmaceutical companies and Evotec is involved in research and development on a pipeline of drug candidates which cover a wide range of diseases and clinical targets.</p>



<p>The unique piece of the Evotec story is that it has multiple revenue streams. It gets paid up front for doing clinical research. But it also picks up royalties on the eventual commercial sales of the drugs on which it does research. This gives Evotec access to a long-lived revenue stream off a variety of FDA-approved drugs once they go to market.</p>



<p>There is already solid proof that the business model works. Evotec has grown revenues from $425 million in 2018 to an estimated $1.0 billion for 2024. EVO stock is down more than 40% year-to-date (<span>YTD</span>) and has fallen back to 2017 levels; this represents an excellent buying opportunity for this fast-growing life sciences firm.</p>



<h2>Stocks Under $10: Petco Health and Wellness (WOOF)</h2>

In addition to the sale of pet products, it offers vet care, grooming, training, and tele-health services. Petco also has substantial e-commerce operations.</p>



<p>Overall, Petco brings in about $6 billion in annual revenues. Yet the firm&rsquo;s market cap is now down to less than $600 million following a brutal year in which Petco shares lost roughly three-quarters of their value.</p>



<p>The company has admittedly struggled as the pet industry slowed down after a boom in 2021 and 2022. But Petco remains around breakeven on a net income basis and revenues this quarter <a href="https://seekingalpha.com/news/4078769-petco-health-and-wellness-company-non-gaap-eps-of-0_02-in-line-revenue-of-1_67b-beats-40m">topped expectations</a>. Given the firm&rsquo;s depressed valuation, even a small improvement in operations could lead to a huge jump in the share price.</p>



<p>Our Muslim Farooque recently highlighted WOOF stock as one with potential to <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/03/to-the-moon-and-beyond-7-stocks-with-cosmic-potential/">rally at least 35%</a>. Farooque is upbeat about the firm&rsquo;s recent move into the pet insurance market via a partnership with <strong>Nationwide</strong>. Analysts project a double-digit annualized growth rate for pet insurance, which could be just the thing to snap WOOF stock out of its current slump.</p>



<h2>Valley National Bancorp (VLY)</h2>

However, if and when rate cut sentiment returns, certain categories of stocks should be set for big gains. Regional banks are one such group.</p>



<p><strong>Valley National Bancorp</strong> (NASDAQ:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/vly-stock-quote/"><strong>VLY</strong></a>) has significant exposure to the interest rate curve, and as such, should be a big winner when the <a href="https://investorplace.com/2024/01/bank-stocks-are-back-in-business-3-picks-to-ride-the-wave-of-coming-rate-cuts/">rate cuts</a> start to occur. </p>



<p>In the meantime, however, VLY stock has slumped as investors await the Fed&rsquo;s next move. Throw in rising concern around the state of the commercial real estate market, and Valley National Bancorp shares are down more than 30% YTD.</p>



<p>This has created a buying opportunity. Shares are going for less than eight times forward earnings and pay a fat 5.8% dividend yield. In addition, Valley National Bancorp announced a <a href="https://seekingalpha.com/news/4069932-valley-national-bancorp-announces-adoption-of-share-repurchase-program">share repurchase program</a> in February. This should allow the company to retire stock opportunistically while shares are at their current depressed price.</p>



<h2>Sibanye Stillwater (SBSW)</h2>

Schneider / Shutterstock.com</div></div><p>Last on the list of stocks under $10 is <strong>Sibanye Stillwater</strong> (NYSE:<a href="https://investorplace.com/stock-quotes/sbsw-stock-quote/"><strong>SBSW</strong></a>), a precious metals mining company. It produces platinum group metals including palladium, platinum, and rhodium along with gold and silver. The mining firm is geographically diversified with operations in the U.S., Canada, Argentina, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.</p>



<p>SBSW stock had a terrible time in 2023. The demand for platinum group metals plunged as the vehicle market slowed down. As these components are particularly vital in emission control, sentiment faded around SBSW stock as the electric vehicle sector lost steam.</p>



<p>However, the big decline in SBSW stock creates opportunity. The longer-term trend is still toward cleaner vehicles which will use more high-value mining inputs. In addition, the price of gold has rallied recently, which will help Sibanye Stillwater&rsquo;s profitability. SBSW stock is trading at just <a href="https://finviz.com/quote.ashx?t=SBSW&amp;p=d">0.62 times</a> book value, and shares look cheap compared to the firm&rsquo;s typical levels of profitability.</p>
