Unlike most English-language media in Kazakhstan, The Qazaqstan Monitor does not limit itself to translating regional news which may not suit the interests of the foreign audience. Nor does it present a solely political bulletin board. Instead, the news site provides insight into the variety of opportunities the country has to offer.
In the first six months since its launch in May 2022, The Qazaqstan Monitor has made information about Kazakhstan easily accessible to hundreds of thousands of readers. The website mainly targets potential investors, tourists, and the English-speaking community in Kazakhstan.
The Qazaqstan Monitor’s editor-in-chief says the site’s purpose is to present the international audience with the cross-section of modern Kazakh business, culture, and lifestyle.
He argues, “the international outlook of the country is changing, and QazMonitor shares news and inspiring stories to reflect those changes. The world already knows about Kazakhstan through Dimash, Imanbek and GGG. We want to show that there’s so much more to our country.”
In addition to news reports, The Qazaqstan Monitor publishes exclusive content in four categories: business, people, travel, and lifestyle.
- Business - digests on new startups from Kazakhstan, financial analytics, investment opportunities, and market insight from Kazakh and foreign businesses and experts.
- People - stories of young Kazakh talents and professionals excelling in various industries around the world, as well as foreigners living in Kazakhstan.
- Travel - latest visa changes, travel guides (directions and prices included), tips on hotels and souvenirs, and interviews with travelers to Kazakhstan.
- Lifestyle - all things Kazakh entertainment, with a focus on film awards, Kazakh music featured on global playlists (Spotify and Apple Music), and the gaming industry.
In September, The Qazaqstan Monitor became a media partner for a large international forum held in Astana. Since then, it has been a reliable information service for regional and global events.
“Event hosts get amazing international reach with QazMonitor’s support. Our journalists deliver first-hand commentary and exclusive interviews with local and foreign entrepreneurs, software developers, bloggers, teachers, artists, and students,” the editor-in-chief explained.
The website is constantly experimenting with new formats. In November, The Qazaqstan Monitor expanded their portfolio with a digest of raised investments by Kazakh startup companies. The editorial staff revealed that even more business and travel-oriented content can be expected soon.Media Contact
