Financial Planning publishes RIA Leaders 2022: Top 20 fee-only RIA firms

In this annual ranking of the largest registered independent advisor firms, Chevy Chase Trust Company, Moneta Group Investment Advisors and Cresset Asset Management took the top three spots

Financial Planning, Arizent's essential resource for financial advisors and wealth managers, published RIA Leaders 2022: the top 20 fee-Only RIA firms on Oct. 3. Leveraging data from RIA in a Box, they identified and examined the largest registered independent advisor firms to provide greater insight into the current state of the wealth management industry and the complex issues that surround financial planning.

The rankings show huge growth remains constant in the channel, with record amounts of assets flowing into RIAs and new highs in M&A volume helping the biggest players turn into giants. It also indicates a shift in industry dynamics: Financial advisors and their clients are driving the expansion by choosing the level of care that requires RIAs to put customers' needs first at all times over that of brokerages.

Chevy Chase Trust Company, Moneta Group Investment Advisors, Cresset Asset Management, Pathstone, and Capital Strategies Investment Group were named as the top five RIA firms in 2022 along with their location, assets under management and number of client accounts, advisors and employees.
