A tale of revenge and redemption awaits readers in Maggie Charters' new psychological thriller

MELBOURNE, Australia, May 25, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Maggie Charters returns to the publishing scene with the release of "I Am Kellie Earl" (published by Balboa Press AU). In this edgy psychological thriller, readers will find that peace carries a cost, truth is slippery, and villains can become victims.

By withdrawing into her fantasy world, and later writing bestselling novels, Kellie Earl has been able to protect herself from her harsh reality as a Russian descendant. When she lands in Fairlea Women's prison after confessing to murdering her abusive stepfather, souls are laid bare, and friendships form. Kellie begins to find peace within the dank walls of the harsh prison. But she always seeks answers to universal questions: "Who is to blame for the downfall of humanity, and why can't we all just get along?" As Kellie narrates her twists-and-turn story, she gives readers great insights into the workings of the criminal mind and how resilient the human spirit is.

"I want readers to see that everyone has a unique story," the author states. "We are not alone. We are all connected to our past and present. Both good and bad experiences make us who we are. I want to challenge readers' thinking of what causes our destiny. Is it the gods, our choices, or the fickle finger of fate?"

Though fictional, "I Am Kellie Earl" gives a snapshot of life in Fairlea Women's Prison and Australia in the '40s to '80s. The book is of historic significance as it shows the impact of the changing face of Australia, from being a dumping ground for prisoners to becoming a viable real estate. It will appeal to those interested in intense dramas filled with explosive storylines and relatable characters. It will also appeal to writers, as the main protagonist shares the methods behind her genius storytelling. Chapter by chapter, she shares what inspired her to write the novel and how she stayed inspired.
